Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). Conduct thorough tax research on issues such as estate planning, securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), mergers & acquisitions, and other specialized areas. Assist with audits by providing supporting documentation, reconciling accounts, and interpreting financial reports. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop effective tax strategies that optimize financial outcomes while maintaining regulatory compliance. Support the preparation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accounting activities using software like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools. Participate in regulatory reporting processes related to tax reporting, asset management, private equity investments, and other financial services activities. Requirements Proven experience in accounting and finance roles with a focus on tax accounting or public accounting environments. Strong knowledge of tax law, tax compliance procedures, and technical accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping and financial statement interpretation. Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or equivalent platforms. Demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance accounting standards like GAAP and SOX. Excellent analysis skills for account reconciliation, financial analysis, and financial report writing. Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and team members. Experience with estate planning, wills & trusts law is a plus; familiarity with securities law or LIHTC credits is advantageous.
