Stephen T Gentile C.P.A., Ltd. is a locally owned public accounting firm dedicated to providing high-quality accounting, tax, attest, assurance, payroll, and advisory services to individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and homeowner associations. We pride ourselves on delivering personalized service, practical financial solutions, and long-term relationships with our clients. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant - Tax & Assurance to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, gain broad experience across multiple service lines, and play an important role in the firm's continued success. Position Summary The Senior Accountant - Tax & Assurance is responsible for providing accounting, tax compliance, tax planning, bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, accounting, attets and assurance services to a diverse client base. The ideal candidate will have public accounting experience, strong technical knowledge, excellent client service skills, and the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with firm leadership, develop client relationships, and contribute to the professional development of junior staff. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Advisory Services Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Perform bank and account reconciliations. Analyze financial information and identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Prepare management reports and communicate financial results to clients and firm leadership. Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Tax Services Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for: Individuals Partnerships Corporations S-Corporations Trusts and Estates Nonprofit Organizations Homeowner Associations Conduct tax research and stay current with tax law changes. Assist with year-round tax planning and tax-saving strategies. Communicate directly with clients to obtain information and resolve tax-related matters. Assist clients with tax projections and planning opportunities.
Assurance Services Independently Perform:
Audits Reviews Compilations Agreed-Upon Procedures Engagements Yellow Book Audits Uniform Guidance Audits Prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules. Collect and organize financial information for assurance engagements. Prepare practice aids and supporting engagement documents. Identify accounting and compliance issues and recommend solutions. Assist in evaluating internal controls and financial reporting processes. Client Accounting Services Provide bookkeeping and write-up services for clients. Process and review payroll services. Assist clients with accounting maintenance. Support clients with financial reporting and compliance requirements. Leadership & Firm Support Train and mentor junior staff members. Assist with reviewing staff work when assigned. Participate in improving firm procedures and workflow efficiencies. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA candidate or active pursuit of CPA licensure. 5+ years of public accounting experience. Experience preparing individual and business tax returns. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience preparing financial statements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Licensed CPA. Experience with audits, reviews, and compilations. Experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software platforms. Experience with UltraTax or similar tax preparation software. Experience mentoring or training staff. Compensation & Benefits Compensation $35.00-$41.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Paid overtime for eligible hours worked beyond normal schedules. Eligibility for year-end performance bonus.
