Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Accountant to support payroll and compliance activities for manufacturing operations in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. This role is responsible for helping ensure payroll records, tax filings, reconciliations, and reporting are accurate, timely, and aligned with internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with multi-state payroll, payroll tax reporting, and general ledger reconciliation, while partnering effectively with payroll, HR, and accounting teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee payroll tax activities by reviewing federal, state, and local filings, year-end wage statements, and related adjustments to confirm accuracy and timely submission.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries, maintain payroll data within Workday, and align payroll postings with the general ledger.
  • Lead payroll-related audits, including workers' compensation, retirement plan, financial, and regulatory reviews, while organizing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Evaluate the tax treatment of non-routine earnings, benefit payments, and special compensation items to support compliant payroll processing.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing and verify one-time or special payments before release.
  • Maintain clear payroll procedures and internal controls, updating documentation to reflect current practices and compliance requirements.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations for payroll balance sheet accounts and payroll bank activity, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc payroll reports for leadership and business partners, and assist with variance analysis, budgeting inputs, forecasting, and period-end accounting support.
  • Partner with U.S. HR representatives to keep employee payroll information current in Workday and administer transactions related to stock-based compensation plans, employee communications, and reporting.
  • Monitor changes in payroll laws and regulations, recommend corrective actions when needed, and perform additional payroll accounting duties as assigned.
