Role Description The Cost Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Greer, SC. This position is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting project costs to support accurate budgeting and decision-making. Daily tasks include preparing cost reports, reviewing and posting journal entries, and assisting with the preparation and analysis of financial statements. The role involves monitoring job costs, comparing actuals to estimates, investigating variances, and collaborating with project managers and leadership to improve cost efficiency. The Cost Accountant also helps maintain proper documentation, supports month-end and year-end close processes, and ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in Cost Accounting and Finance, with experience in project or construction-related costing preferred. Candidates should possess skills in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Candidates should possess skills in Journal Entries (Accounting), including accurate posting, reconciliations, and support for month-end close. Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret cost data, identify variances, and present clear findings. Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or similar certification is a plus. Proficiency with accounting software and Excel, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on-site with cross-functional teams. Prior experience in construction, excavation, or related industries is beneficial, along with knowledge of GAAP and standard cost accounting practices.
