Job Description

Job Overview As our Staff Accountant you will be someone that audits and prepares financial information for the assigned departments at Lone Star Park. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for meeting monthly financial reporting deadlines along with quarterly and annual financial deadlines, including reconciliation of statements and accounts. Responsibilities Post daily journal entries, track transactions, and categorize assets, liabilities, and expenses accurately. Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations to detect and fix discrepancies. Process accruals, prepayments, and adjustments as part of closing the financial period. Organize files, pull transactions records, and prepare documentation for external auditors. Apply GAAP standards to ensure records meet federal, state, and company rules. Review, code, and track accounts. Track budget-to-actual variances and assist management with financial reporting. All other duties as assigned. Skills Strong understanding of GAAP principles along with experience in public accounting or governmental accounting environments. Proficiency with a variety of financial software including QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or similar platforms. Demonstrated ability in technical accounting tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, and general ledger management. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy in 10 key typing and double entry bookkeeping processes. Solid knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, budgeting techniques, credit analysis, and account analysis. Effective communication skills for customer service interactions with internal teams and external auditors. Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining strong numeracy skills for precise math calculations. Experience with spreadsheets and accounting systems for Excel data analysis and reporting purposes. What you need to succeed in this role: Bachelor's degree in accounting Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience. Exhibit a strong analytical and critical thinking skills with strong detail focus. Prior experience working in a food and beverage, gaming, or hospitality environment is preferred. Prior experience working with federal, state, local income, sales, or property tax returns is preferred. Prior experience with NetSuite is preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable, to perform the essential job functions Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result

$63,500.00 - $73,500.00 per year
