full-time Our client, a growing construction company located in West Houston, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This individual will play a key role in the monthly close process and day-to-day corporate accounting while working closely with the Controller as the company continues to grow. The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on accountant with solid general ledger experience, a good understanding of the full month-end close process, and an interest in improving and scaling accounting processes. Key Responsibilities Manage and perform key aspects of the full monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process. Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger activity. Prepare and review balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations. Research and resolve account discrepancies and accounting issues. Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and management reporting. Maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation for the close and reporting processes. Work closely with the Controller on accounting initiatives, special projects, and ongoing improvements to the accounting function. Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and automate accounting processes. Assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures and internal controls. Support the annual audit process and respond to external auditor requests. Partner with other departments to ensure accurate and timely accounting information. Take on additional responsibilities as the company grows, and the accounting organization continues to evolve. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Approximately 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong general ledger and corporate accounting experience. Hands-on experience with the full month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles. Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems. Ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and independently work through solutions. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization. Experience in a growing, evolving, or process-improvement-oriented environment is a plus.
