We are dedicated to providing top-tier service to both property owners and tenants, upholding the highest standards of fairness, transparency, and accountability. We are seeking a hands-on Property Management & Operations Accountant to help strengthen the financial operations behind our growing portfolio of Build-to-Rent, multifamily, and single-family rental properties. This role is responsible for accurate and timely property management and corporate accounting. The right person will be comfortable owning month-end close, reconciling accounts, improving processes, protecting client funds, and turning financial data into clear information for leadership, operators, and property owners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Own monthly close for assigned properties and corporate entities Prepare bank and balance-sheet reconciliations Produce accurate owner and management reports Review AP, AR, journal entries, accruals, owner funding, and distributions Reconcile AppFolio and QuickBooks records and resolve discrepancies Maintain clear separation between property/client funds and corporate funds Support budgets, cash reporting, and variance analysis Improve accounting controls, workflows, checklists, and SOPs Support lease-ups, property onboarding, projects, audits, and tax preparation Work closely with operations, leadership, owners, vendors, and outside advisers What Success Looks Like Monthly close and reporting are accurate and delivered on time Bank accounts and material balance-sheet accounts are fully reconciled AppFolio and QuickBooks records are reliable and clearly mapped Property/client funds and corporate funds remain properly separated Owners and leadership receive clear, decision-ready reporting Accounting issues are identified early, documented, and resolved Processes become more consistent, scalable, and less dependent on any one person What We're Looking For 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong experience in property management, real estate, or another multi-entity business Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, AP, AR, accrual accounting, and financial reporting Working knowledge of AppFolio Strong Excel skills Clear understanding of cash controls and the separation of client and corporate funds Ability to investigate discrepancies, find root causes, and close issues completely Strong communication, organization, judgment, and follow-through Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience CPA or CMA certification Experience with Build-to-Rent, multifamily, single-family rental, lease-up, construction, or project accounting Experience supporting audits, tax preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
