Ogden, UT Salary:
$90,000- 110,000 per year, depending on experience Acuity Business & Tax Advisors is a Utah-based provider of tax, accounting, payroll, assurance, and business advisory services.
We provide ongoing tax and accounting management services to business owners and individuals throughout Utah and surrounding states. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant / Tax Reviewer to join our team in our Ogden, Utah office. This position is designed for an experienced tax professional who enjoys both technical tax work and working with clients and developing other tax professionals. The Senior Tax Accountant / Tax Reviewer will play an important role in maintaining the quality and accuracy of tax returns prepared by our team, assisting with staff development, and providing proactive tax planning and advisory services to our clients. Responsibilities Review individual and business tax returns prepared by other tax staff for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and state tax laws. Prepare complex individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S. Prepare tax projections and estimated tax calculations for individuals and business owners. Identify tax planning opportunities and potential tax risks during the preparation and review process. Review tax planning strategies with clients and clearly explain recommendations and potential tax impacts. Meet and communicate directly with clients regarding tax returns, projections, planning strategies, and tax-related questions. Assist in training, mentoring, and developing tax preparation staff. Provide constructive review comments and technical guidance to tax preparers. Research federal and state tax issues and apply findings to client situations. Assist staff with complex tax questions and unusual client circumstances. Review prior-year information and current-year activity to identify opportunities for proactive tax planning. Work closely with Partners and other senior staff regarding complex tax matters and client planning opportunities. Stay current on changes in federal and state tax laws and communicate relevant changes to staff and clients. Manage multiple client projects and deadlines during tax season and throughout the year. Maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, professionalism, and client service. Qualifications Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required . Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax preparation experience preferred , ideally within a public accounting firm. Significant experience preparing individual and business tax returns. Experience reviewing tax returns prepared by other tax professionals. Strong knowledge of federal and state individual and business income taxation. Experience preparing tax projections, estimated tax calculations, and tax planning recommendations. Ability to identify potential tax planning opportunities and communicate recommendations clearly to clients. Previous experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to tax staff preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex tax concepts in a practical, understandable manner. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Partners and other team members. Experience with professional tax preparation software required; UltraTax experience is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. This individual will serve as a technical resource for our tax team, help ensure quality and consistency across tax returns, and work directly with clients to identify proactive tax planning opportunities. We are looking for someone who enjoys reviewing and developing other professionals, solving complex tax issues, and helping business owners and individuals better understand their tax situation. Compensation $90,000
- 110,000 per year , depending on tax experience, credentials, review experience, and ability to independently manage tax planning and client conversations.
Additional compensation may be considered for candidates with extensive public accounting experience, advanced tax expertise, or significant experience managing complex client relationships.
