Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in Petersburg, Virginia. This role will help maintain accurate financial records, assist with period-end close activities, and contribute to the smooth execution of daily accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in general ledger work, journal entry preparation, and accounts payable processing, along with a disciplined approach to accuracy and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues as needed.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by organizing records and validating account activity.
  • Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, and payment coordination.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and schedules for internal review and decision-making.
  • Monitor accounting documentation for completeness and compliance with established procedures.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and address accounting-related questions.
