Job Description

Vizance is seeking a detail-oriented and proactiveLead Accountant to oversee critical accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, and support strategic business decision-making. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, leading month-end and year-end close processes, mentoring accounting staff, and maintaining compliance with financial reporting requirements. The Lead Accountant serves as a key partner to leadership by providing financial insights and ensuring the integrity of financial data. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Reporting Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial transactions. Manage accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Analyze financial results and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Review and approve vendor payments and customer billing transactions. Monitor cash flow and support cash management activities. Ensure timely collection of receivables and resolution of payment discrepancies. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures. Coordinate annual audits and serve as a primary contact for external auditors. Assist with tax filings, regulatory reporting, and insurance audits as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and accounting records. Leadership & Team Development Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to accounting team members. Review team work product for accuracy and completeness. Assist with workload management, process improvements, and department initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Process Improvement & Strategic Support Identify and implement efficiencies within accounting processes and financial systems. Support financial system enhancements, reporting automation, and data integrity initiatives. Collaborate with department leaders to provide financial insights and operational support. Participate in special projects, acquisitions, integrations, or strategic initiatives as assigned. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills and attention to detail. Preferred CPA designation or CPA candidate. Experience in the insurance, professional services, or financial services industry. Experience with ERP or accounting software systems. Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
