Accounting Clerk Position This Accounting Clerk role supports the Claims and Accounting teams by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of claims documentation, payments, and related administrative tasks. This role is responsible for maintaining organized financial records, supporting payment workflows, and helping ensure compliance with internal controls and documentation standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering high-quality support in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience performing accounting, financial, or administrative support duties. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. Experience processing invoices, billing, payments, vendor communications, or related financial transactions. Strong customer service and communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a process-driven environment. Experience working with ERP systems or claims processing systems is preferred. Responsibilities Receive, organize, scan, and file paper claims in accordance with internal controls and documentation standards. Maintain detailed logs of claims received and processed to support accurate tracking and reporting. Assist with incoming mail distribution, including claims, remittances, and payment-related correspondence. Support cash handling processes by organizing payment documentation and assisting with lockbox activities. Prepare and distribute Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) and other financial correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Perform data entry to support claims processing, reconciliation activities, and reporting needs. Assist with tracking and follow-up on member statements and outstanding items to ensure timely resolution. Maintain and update provider and vendor contact information to support accurate financial communications. Serve as a liaison between Claims, Accounting, and other internal departments to support workflow continuity and resolve issues. Support compliance with internal financial controls, documentation standards, and audit requirements. Utilize Excel, ERP systems, and other business applications to manage claims and financial data. Provide general administrative support to the Claims and Accounting teams to ensure efficient daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Ysidro, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
