B LOCATION
Central Business Office, Support Services Center;
Norwich, NY REPORTS:
Director of Management Services TERMS:
12 months, Full time
QUALIFICATIONS
Competitive Civil Service position. Candidates must meet the minimum Civil Service qualifications and successfully complete the exam. In summary, those are listed below. A.
Education:
Bachelor degree with 24 credit hours in accounting;
AND Experience:
a) One year of full-time paid accounting or auditing experience; OR b) Two years of full-time paid responsible experience in maintaining financial accounts and records; B.
OR Education:
Associate's degree with 12 credit hours in accounting;
AND Experience:
a) Three years of full-time paid accounting or auditing experience; OR b) Six years of full-time responsible experience in maintaining financial accounts and records; C.
OR Education:
Completion of a minimum of 60 credit hours at a college or university, including 12 credit hours in accounting;
AND Experience:
either experience specified in B above; D.
OR Education:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma;
AND Experience:
a) Four years of full-time paid accounting or auditing experience; OR b) Eight years of full-time responsible experience in maintaining financial accounts and records; E. OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in (A), (B), (C) or (D) above.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DU TIES
Supervises and trains subordinate staff of the Central Business Office's payroll team.
Additional responsibilities:
Provides payroll service to participating component school district, including timesheet/timeclock calculations, data entry, computation of gross earnings, application of relevant deductions, reporting, filing and paying of payroll taxes, preparing W-2s, calculation of salaries for new school year, etc.; Plans and assigns work to the payroll team, and reviews a wide variety of financial records and reports created by staff, and instructs employees in the specialized details of this work; Ensures the maintenance of necessary financial controls; Assists the component district school business official in dealings with representatives of other local departments and State and Federal agencies on specific problems within the scope of responsibility; Develops procedures to comply with relevant laws regulations of the relevant state and federal governments; May perform difficult or unusual accounting procedures.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Starting salary $56,900, plus credit for experience. As a position governed under the BOCES Administrator's Association collective bargaining agreement, it includes a generous leave and benefit packages.
