full-time Robert Half Finance & Accounting and Kevin Sweet is partnering with a 50 plus and growing manufacturing organization to identify an experienced Accounting Supervisor for a newly created opportunity . This is a key, hands-on accounting position with responsibility for the month-end close, balance sheet integrity, financial reporting, technical accounting, and leadership of the accounts receivable function. Sweet@RobertHalf.com Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the month-end close process and ensure all assigned activities are completed accurately and on schedule. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, allocations, and intercompany transactions. Prepare monthly financial statements and provide meaningful variance analysis for management review. Maintain and enhance the monthly close calendar, checklist, and supporting documentation. Research and apply appropriate GAAP treatment to non-routine transactions and clearly document accounting conclusions. Serve as a technical accounting resource for the local organization. Own the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring accounts are properly supported and reconciling items are resolved timely. Perform and review bank reconciliations and provide ongoing visibility into cash activity. Monitor transactions processed through Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure accuracy and proper accounting treatment. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure appropriate segregation of duties. Partner with the Controller and Accounting leadership to resolve complex or unusual balance sheet items. Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the accounts receivable function. Monitor invoicing, cash application, collections, aging, and overall AR performance. Establish and maintain effective AR procedures, escalation processes, and collection practices. Track key metrics such as DSO, past-due balances, and unapplied cash. Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and periodic reforecasting activities. Analyze actual results against budget and provide meaningful explanations of significant variances. Prepare financial analyses, ROI evaluations, payback calculations, and other business cases as requested. Support ad hoc reporting and analysis for operations and corporate finance. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency. Partner closely with the Cost Accountant to support a complete and effective accounting function. Maintain working knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, WIP, and production variance analysis to provide backup coverage when needed. Provide guidance and workflow leadership to accounting team members while remaining hands-on with accounting responsibilities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated ownership of the month-end close. Strong technical accounting and GAAP knowledge with the ability to research, document, and explain accounting conclusions. Significant experience with balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations. ERP experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or similar environment. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and analysis of large data sets. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both accounting and non-accounting business partners.
