Position Overview We are seeking a motivated Staff Auditor to join our team. The Staff Auditor will assist primarily with governmental and nonprofit audit engagements by examining financial records, performing audit procedures, evaluating internal controls, analyzing financial information, and preparing workpaper documentation. The position also involves working closely with the engagement team throughout the audit process. This position requires a strong accounting foundation, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. The position includes local travel to client locations, typically within 30-60 minutes of the office, as part of the regular workday. Key Responsibilities Perform audit, review, and compliance procedures for governmental and nonprofit clients. Examine financial records and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Prepare workpapers documenting procedures performed, supporting evidence, and conclusions reached. Assist with documenting and evaluating internal controls and accounting processes. Identify discrepancies, unusual items, or areas requiring additional follow-up and communicate them to the engagement team. Communicate with client personnel to obtain documentation and information needed to complete assigned procedures. Manage assigned tasks and follow up on outstanding items to keep engagements moving forward. Work collaboratively with team members to complete engagements accurately and on time. Develop and maintain knowledge of governmental and nonprofit accounting and auditing requirements. Skills/Proficiencies Effective time management and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking. Comfortable managing multiple assignments and priorities. Works well both independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word. Ability to work in the office and travel to local client locations as required. Working knowledge of accounting principles. $50,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
