Job Description

About the Role Baratz & Associates, P.A. is seeking an Audit Intern to support our Audit Department. This role is ideal for a motivated accounting student interested in gaining hands-on experience in public accounting while learning the fundamentals of audit fieldwork, client service, and professional standards. The Audit Intern will work alongside Staff Accountants, Seniors, Supervisors, and Partners on a variety of engagements, including Employee Benefit Plan Audits (Taft-Hartley and Multiemployer Plans) and Not-for-Profit Audits (including Single Audit and Yellow Book engagements). This position provides valuable exposure to audit procedures, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance in a professional team environment. Responsibilities Assist with a variety of audit engagement activities. Prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules in accordance with firm methodology. Gather, organize, and analyze client documentation. Assist with audit testing procedures under the supervision of senior team members. Perform basic account analyses, reconciliations, and data verification procedures. Assist with testing contributions, benefits, investments, internal controls, and compliance requirements, as applicable. Follow up on outstanding client information requests. Learn and apply fundamental auditing and accounting principles. Maintain organized and complete audit documentation within the firm's paperless audit environment. Participate in audit planning meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities. Communicate questions, observations, and potential issues to engagement team members. Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality in all client and team interactions. Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university. Completion of introductory and intermediate accounting coursework preferred. Interest in public accounting, auditing, employee benefit plan audits, and/or not-for-profit auditing. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment. Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Willingness to travel locally, as needed. What You'll Gain Hands-on experience with real client audit engagements. Exposure to Employee Benefit Plan and Not-for-Profit audit specialties. Experience working with audit professionals and firm leadership who maintain an open door policy. Development of technical accounting and auditing skills.
