Type:
full-time Assurance Manager Northern Kentucky | Hybrid $110,000 - $140,000 + bonus There comes a point in audit where getting promoted shouldn't simply mean reviewing more work. It should mean better clients, more influence, stronger relationships and a genuine say in how engagements are run. That's the opportunity here. This is a growing Top 100 CPA and advisory firm looking for an Assurance Manager to join its Northern Kentucky team. You'll get the resources and client complexity of a larger firm, but in an environment where Managers are still close to their clients, their teams and the people making decisions. What the role actually looks like This is a proper Manager position. You'll take ownership of assurance engagements from planning through completion, become a key contact for clients and develop the Seniors and staff working underneath you.
Expect a mix of:
Leading audit and assurance engagements Managing client relationships and expectations Reviewing financial statements and complex audit work Resolving technical accounting and reporting matters Managing engagement budgets, deadlines and workflow Coaching and developing Seniors and staff Working directly with Directors and senior leadership Identifying opportunities to provide wider advisory support The firm works across a broad range of industries, so there's scope to develop a specialism without spending your entire career looking at the same type of client. More than year-end audit One of the advantages of joining a broader advisory firm is that client conversations don't have to stop when the audit does. The wider business has expertise across transaction advisory, internal audit, technology, cybersecurity, tax and consulting, while the Assurance practice itself gets involved in everything from complex financial reporting to ownership changes and transactions. It means you can become a much more rounded advisor rather than simply an excellent auditor. Big enough to offer opportunity. Small enough to be noticed. There are now more than 500 people across the wider firm , with offices throughout Kentucky and several other states. That scale brings better resources, specialist teams and more interesting clients. But career development remains personal. You'll have access to dedicated career support and clear development opportunities, with the chance to continue progressing beyond Manager as you build your technical, client and leadership experience. The firm has also been recognised as a Top 100 accounting firm nationally , so this is somewhere you can build a strong long-term career without necessarily having to head for one of the biggest firms in the market. The package There's a strong emphasis on giving people flexibility outside busy periods as well as opportunity inside them.
Benefits include:
Unlimited PTO Hybrid and flexible working options Automatic profit sharing and 401(k) match Paid maternity, paternity and family leave Wellness reimbursement and mental health resources Dedicated career development support Regular market adjustments to compensation Firm events and team activities In other words, they've put some thought into the reasons good people actually stay. Who they're looking for You'll need a strong background in public accounting assurance and enough experience to confidently lead both engagements and people. You'll probably fit particularly well if you: Have progressed to Manager level, or you're an experienced Supervisor ready for it Have strong audit and assurance experience within public accounting Can manage engagements from planning through completion Enjoy building direct client relationships Have experience reviewing and developing staff Are comfortable handling technical accounting issues Want to continue progressing within a growing firm Hold your CPA or are appropriately qualified for the level The key is that you still enjoy assurance. You just want the years you've put into becoming good at it to start buying you something: better work, more autonomy and a clearer path forward. Why make the move? Because you don't necessarily need to choose between a small firm where you've hit the ceiling and a huge firm where you're one Manager among hundreds. There is a useful middle ground. Interesting clients. Strong resources. A growing Northern Kentucky practice. More responsibility. More advisory exposure. And enough room above you for the next promotion to actually mean something. Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? That's fine. Apply the old fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I'll happily talk you through the role, the firm, and where it could take you before you make any commitments. I'm Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don't just look at job specs. I look at people, and where they'll thrive. It's not about filling gaps. It's about finding a fit that lasts. Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don't slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
