Job Description

Our client a leading public accounting firm in western MA is looking to hire an Audit Manager on a direct hire basis as soon as possible. This position would be located at their office in Holyoke, MA and would involve occasional travel to clients sites around the MA area (most clients within 40-50 miles from Springfield, MA). It would be a traditional office hours position onsite position Mon-Fri and may be more than 40 hours per week during certain times of the year. There would be a 4-5 person audit team reporting into this person as well, so the client is looking for someone who can lead a small team but produce as well. The client is seeking a highly experienced Audit Manager to oversee and manage audit engagements across a broad range of clients including businesses and non-profit organizations throughout New England and beyond. This role involves leadership in client relations, staff development, and project management while delivering exceptional audit and advisory services.
Core Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary contact for audit engagements. Plan, schedule, and monitor engagement progress to meet budget and deadline goals. Review audit workpapers and reports before partner review, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Mentor, train, and evaluate staff accountants and associates; encourage professional development and growth. Manage engagement planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases with efficiency and accuracy. Handle client billing, monitor project profitability, and negotiate fees as necessary. Identify opportunities for client growth and recommend advisory services where appropriate. Promote a positive work environment and actively participate in business development initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required CPA license required MST, MSA, MBA, or related graduate degree (preferred) Minimum 5 years of accounting/audit experience Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant audit software
