Job Description

We're seeking a Staff Auditor who brings curiosity, attention to detail, and strong professional judgment to a collaborative audit team serving clients throughout Southern and Western Maine! This role requires regular travel to client locations, with occasional overnight or out-of-area travel. The Firm makes an effort to limit travel to three days per week. Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned): Plans and performs assigned audit areas in accordance with applicable professional standards, firm methodology, and engagement objectives. Applies professional judgment in evaluating audit evidence, identifying exceptions, and determining the significance of findings. Performs audit procedures that require analysis, interpretation, and judgment rather than routine verification. Prepares audit documentation that clearly supports audit conclusions and complies with firm quality standards. Evaluates internal controls and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual requirements within assigned audit areas. Participates meaningfully in engagement risk assessments and audit planning discussions, providing input based on professional analysis. Communicates professionally with clients to obtain information, clarify issues, and discuss audit matters related to assigned areas. Manages assigned tasks and deadlines with varying day-to-day direction, escalating issues as appropriate. Maintains required continuing professional education (CPE) to ensure technical competence and compliance with professional standards. Adheres to firm policies, quality management standards, and ethical requirements
What You'll Need:
Associates degree or higher, or equivalent in accounting or business management or related field or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired Working knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards. Ability to analyze financial information, evaluate evidence, and draw reasoned conclusions. Ability to exercise professional judgment within established auditing frameworks. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize work effectively, manage priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to collaborate effectively with engagement team members while maintaining independent professional responsibility for assigned work. Proficiency with Microsoft applications
What's A Plus:
Progress toward CPA licensure or similar professional certification Public accounting or audit experience
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing financial records and working at a computer. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and handling documents. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via video conferencing. Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching in office or client-site environments. Ability to lift and carry light materials (generally up to 10-15 lbs), such as files, laptops, or audit documentation.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment or at client sites. The employee is expected to maintain a professional remote work environment that supports confidentiality, data security, and effective communication. May involve extended periods of screen time Work hours may increase during peak audit periods or deadlines. Employee may be expected to attend client meetings and/or travel beyond the regular business day Minimal exposure to noise, dust, or other environmental factors typical of a professional office setting. Must be able to travel to client worksites as assigned, with reasonable notice. A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation may be required based on assignment. The Firm makes an effort to limit travel to three days per week. Overnight and out-of-area travel may be required for fieldwork or training. Employees may be expected to attend client meetings and/or travel beyond the regular business day.

Pay:
$64,000.00 - $76,000.00 per year
