Summary of Position The Bookkeeper assists the Senior Accountant in the maintenance of systematic and current records and accounts, payroll records, journals, agency forms and other related documents. Works at the next lower level of complexity and responsibility to the Junior Accountant. The Bookkeeper performs clerical duties as necessary to support the efficient operations of the Fiscal Department. The Bookkeeper is under the direct supervision of the Senior Accountant.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Typical responsibilities and duties of the Bookkeeper include, but are not limited to: Post payments from cash receipts journal to individual clients' accounts. Assist with the maintenance of a doubly entry fiscal system including payroll, cash receipts, accounts payable, and posting to the journal through the financial statements. Assist with inventory control and audits. Compute productivity and prepare reports. Handle vendor and vendor related inquiries Post to the journal as necessary. Prepare checks as directed and obtain signatures. Prepare accounts payable report. Prepare monthly cash disbursement journal. Prepare monthly revenue report. Maintain a calendar of meetings and events Periodically travel to make bank deposits. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 2-4 years with experience as a bookkeeper. Certification in accounting or completion of the equivalent of 16 semester units of accounting courses in an accredited institution. Must use Excel or equivalent accounting programs. Must be able to read and write at an 8th Grade level. Operate a 10-key or equivalent. May be required to work evenings and or Saturdays and attend meetings outside clinic working hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must perform basic accounting functions; grasp and utilize basic accounting concepts. Able to utilize Excel and similar accounting programs. Will be required to drive an automobile. Able to stand, walk on even surface, bend, sit, squat, reach, pull, carry 15 lbs. Must be able to type. Must be able to read hand written documents and make handwritten document entries. Must be able to multi-task in a sometimes stressful environment.
