We are a busy multispecialty surgical practice providing general surgery, vascular surgery, and endovascular services. The ideal candidate has experience with medical billing, insurance follow-up, denial resolution, and accounts receivable. This position requires attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to research and resolve billing issues independently. Responsibilities Review and enter charges accurately and promptly. Submit clean electronic and paper claims. Review and correct clearinghouse rejections. Follow up on unpaid, underpaid, and denied claims. Work insurance accounts receivable, including balances over 90 and 120 days. Review EOBs and electronic remittance advice. Prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals. Research authorization, eligibility, coding, timely filing, and medical necessity denials. Use payer portals and contact insurance companies to obtain claim status. Identify possible underpayments and incorrect adjustments. Document all account activity clearly in the practice management system. Communicate billing issues with providers, authorization staff, and other departments. Assist patients with insurance and account questions when needed. Follow HIPAA, payer, and organizational billing requirements. Qualifications Minimum two years of medical billing or insurance follow-up experience. Experience working insurance accounts receivable and denials. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and medical terminology. Ability to read and interpret EOBs, remittance advice, and denial codes. Familiarity with Medicare, Medi-Cal, commercial insurance, managed care, capitation, and fee-for-service billing. Strong computer, research, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to meet productivity, accuracy, and timely filing expectations. Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team. Preferred Experience General surgery, vascular surgery, or endovascular billing NextGen practice management or EHR Waystar or another electronic clearinghouse Surgical and office-based procedure billing Denial appeals and aged accounts receivable Billing or coding certification is preferred but not required.
