Reports To:
Senior Accountant Job Description & Position Overview Paterson & Cooke is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Financial Assistant to join our Golden, Colorado office. The Financial Assistant will be an important member of our North American accounting team and will support the day-to-day accounting activities of the US operations. The position reports to the Senior Accountant and will work closely with project managers, and other members of the accounting team. This is a hands-on accounting role with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, as well as project and general accounting. Tasks & ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable and Vendor Administration
  • Accounts payable invoice entry and approval routing
  • Generate reports and supporting information for bi-monthly accounts payable payment runs.
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9 documentation and vendor payment information.
  • Review employee expense reports for appropriate supporting documentation, coding, and approvals. Accounts Receivable and Client Invoicing
  • Generate draft monthly client invoices and work collaboratively with project managers to finalize invoices.
  • Process, post, and distribute customer invoices.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances and contact clients regarding past-due amounts. Project Accounting and Timesheets
  • Assist with new project setup and maintain appropriate project documentation within the accounting and network systems.
  • Review employee timesheets for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate project coding.
  • Open and close timesheet periods within the accounting system.
  • Maintain accurate accounting and project records. General Accounting and Month-End
  • Monitor and maintain the shared accounting email inbox.
  • Maintain monthly foreign exchange rates within the multi-currency accounting system. Tax, Audit and Financial Support
  • Assist with sales and use tax reporting and quarterly remittances.
  • Assist with supporting documentation for annual tax filings and financial audits.
  • Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a collaborative accounting environment where priorities may change throughout the month.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Approximately 2-5 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience, including transactional accounting and account reconciliations.
  • An accounting diploma, degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is considered an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and general proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethical conduct.
  • Willingness to cross-train in multiple accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits The expected annual salary range for this position is $50,000 to $80,000. The actual salary offered will be based on relevant qualifications, education, skills, training, and prior experience. In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for annual bonus compensation based on company and individual performance.
