Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Bookkeeper for a mission-driven human services nonprofit supporting individuals and families through a variety of community-based programs. This is a part-time, temp-to-hire opportunity based in Meriden, CT, working primarily onsite initially with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule once established in the role.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Nonprofit Bookkeeper will manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities with a strong focus on payroll, accounts payable, expense coding, and accurate financial recordkeeping. This position will work within a grant-funded nonprofit environment and ensure expenses are accurately allocated across restricted grants, programs, and classes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on bookkeeper who is comfortable working independently, communicating with an outsourced CFO team, and shifting priorities when urgent financial needs arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Process biweekly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records, utilizing ADP Maintain accurate bookkeeping records, entries, and transactions in QuickBooks Online Manage accounts payable, vendor invoices, and organizational expense processing Review, code, and accurately allocate expenses across restricted grants, programs, and classes Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting records, including invoices and grant-related documentation Collaborate closely with the outsourced CFO team and internal leadership while responding to changing financial priorities
QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-on nonprofit bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of restricted and reimbursable funding Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and experience processing payroll; ADP experience is strongly preferred Experience with accounts payable, invoice processing, and allocating expenses by grant, fund, program, or class Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to independently manage deadlines and shifting priorities Excellent communication skills with the confidence to ask questions, seek clarification, and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This part-time, temp-to-hire opportunity offers an hourly pay rate of $27-$32, depending on experience, with approximately 20-25 hours per week initially. Scion Staffing temporary employees may be eligible for benefits based on assignment and applicable eligibility requirements. The organization is highly interested in permanent conversion for the right candidate, with permanent compensation and benefits to be confirmed.
