This pivotal role involves handling all aspects of bookkeeping, financial record-keeping, and reporting with precision and integrity. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience with various financial software systems, and a deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). As a key member of our finance team, you will ensure the accuracy of financial data, maintain confidentiality, and support the organization's financial health through diligent account management and reconciliation. Duties Manage full-cycle bookkeeping processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday. Prepare and record journal entries accurately, ensuring proper debits and credits in accordance with GAAP standards. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to ensure financial statements are precise and compliant. Oversee month-end closing procedures, including account reconciliation and financial statement preparation. Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions while handling confidential information with integrity. Utilize spreadsheets and data analysis tools in Excel for detailed financial reporting and variance analysis. Support internal audits by providing documentation related to SOX compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and other regulatory standards. Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed. Assist in budgeting processes, credit analysis, and financial forecasting to support strategic decision-making. Use various payroll systems such as ADP or Ceridian to process employee payments accurately. Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards for any applicable projects or grants. Qualifications Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, ideally within a corporate or governmental environment. Strong proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Workday, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian or similar platforms. Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX compliance standards. Experience with financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger management. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing is preferred. Ability to analyze Excel data effectively using spreadsheets for reporting purposes. Strong numeracy skills coupled with a solid understanding of accounting systems and software integration. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining confidentiality.
