$65-70k, commensurate with experience
Location:
West Haven, onsite Position Overview Our client is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day accounting and administrative functions of the organization. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys staying organized, completing tasks accurately and taking ownership of recurring accounting processes. The scope of the position may evolve based on the experience and strengths of the individual hired. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, task-driven and comfortable working independently while also pitching in wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform bank reconciliations and assist with maintaining accurate financial records. Process and reconcile company credit card activity, including obtaining approvals and recording transactions. Prepare journal entries related to cash deposits and other routine transactions. Manage petty cash activity and reconciliations. Assist with accounts payable, invoice processing and vendor payments as needed. Maintain fixed asset records and supporting documentation. Assist with weekly payroll processing, including reviewing timecards, missed punches, PTO, commissions, mileage and employee expenses. Assist with reconciling weekly payroll and maintaining related records. Calculate and submit weekly 401(k) contributions and maintain supporting documentation. Assist with sales tax filings and payments across multiple states. Maintain organized employee and accounting files. Support benefits administration and other administrative responsibilities as needed. Assist with special projects and provide general office support when necessary.
Qualifications:
Previous bookkeeping, accounting or related experience. Experience with accounts payable, bank reconciliations and general accounting transactions. Payroll experience strongly preferred. Strong Excel and general computer skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage recurring deadlines and prioritize multiple responsibilities. Self-motivated, dependable and comfortable working independently. Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist outside of traditional accounting responsibilities when needed. #LI-GW1 #LI-Onsite #
