Job Description

General Summary:
The Accountant Assistant is responsible for functions related to the preparation of financial statements.

FSLA Exempt Status Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete monthly bank reconciliations for cash accounts. Assist in monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Review and approve transactions before posting to the General Ledger. Prepare invoices and reports for active contracts and grants. Assist in coordination of audits with external auditors. Complete monthly reconciliation of benefits related balance sheet accounts. Maintain accounts payable and vendor files Review and reconcile daily cash receipts from all sites and Billing. Prepare journal entries and enter into accounting system. Research any problems and discrepancies. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience with Abilia MIP, Sage or other similar accounting software. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational skills. Ability to communicate in both verbal and written form. Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
Typical Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a normal office environment. Work may be stressful at times and may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Additionally, the position ensures and adheres to strict confidentiality when handling patient information, according to the HIPAA Privacy Act and supporting GAPHC policies and procedures.

Associate's degree 2 years of accounting experience in healthcare preferred.
