Division:
Finance and Administration Job Description The Accounting Assistant will perform routine accounting, data entry and clerical functions requiring analysis and individual judgement. This position will assist a variety of positions within the Business Office, which include Accounts Payable, Payroll Coordinator, Controller, and Vice President of Financial Services. Filing, preparing reports, and data entry, as requested. This position will be the first point of contact for visitors of the college Business Office. Required Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
High school graduation or equivalent and three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience required. Customer service and administrative/clerical experience is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong attention to detail with accurate data entry skills. Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the College. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate-level experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to prioritize work, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions consistent with College policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications Associate's Degree in business or accounting and an understanding of accounting principles is preferred. Physical Demands
PHYSICAL /MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations. Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues. Provide timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines. Must be able to sit and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There may be irregular hours including weekend and/or evening hours. Summer hours may vary. This position may be eligible for the Flexible Work Arrangement plan after the 120-day probationary period has been successfully completed. TRAVEL None required.
