Job Description

Bordner Home Improvement is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team! Starting at $22/hour, with pay based on experience If you're someone who loves numbers, catches the little details others miss, and likes knowing that your work actually makes a difference, this could be a great fit. This isn't your typical "sit in a corner and enter numbers all day" accounting position. You'll play an important role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly, with responsibilities including accounts receivable, payroll, commissions, job costing, reconciliations, and general accounting support. We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, thinks before they act, and takes pride in doing things the right way. What We Offer Starting pay of $22/hour, based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with a 4% company match PTO and sick time Company holidays and employee events Training and opportunities to grow A team-oriented work environment The opportunity to be part of a winning team that takes pride in doing things the right way What You'll Do Manage daily accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payments, account reconciliation, and outstanding balances Assist with weekly and biweekly payroll processing for employees and subcontractors Calculate, review, and process employee commissions and bonuses Assist with job costing , ensuring labor, materials, and other job expenses are accurately recorded Review job costs and investigate discrepancies or unexpected variances Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end accounting tasks Enter and maintain accurate financial information in company and accounting systems Research and resolve billing, payment, payroll, commission, and job-costing issues Prepare reports and spreadsheets for management Work closely with Coordinators, Project Managers, Payroll, and Accounting teams Maintain accurate and organized financial records Assist with general accounting and administrative tasks as needed Handle confidential employee and company financial information with discretion Help identify problems and find solutions before they become bigger problems What We're Looking For You don't have to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone who has a solid foundation and the right mindset. You'll be a great fit if you are: Detail-oriented and accurate Organized and good at managing multiple priorities Comfortable working with numbers and financial information A problem solver who thinks things through Someone who follows processes but can recognize when something doesn't look right Dependable and takes ownership of their work Comfortable working independently while also being part of a team Able to work with confidential information Comfortable working in Excel and learning new software and systems Able to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent 1+ year of experience in accounting, Accounts Receivable, payroll, bookkeeping, or a related field Basic understanding of accounting principles Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Bonus Points If You Have An Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field 2+ years of accounting experience Experience with accounts receivable, payroll, or commissions Experience with job costing Experience with accounting software or ERP systems Construction or home improvement industry experience Why Bordner?
