Through its Save My Life Program, MED primarily serves first responders, municipal and government employees, educators, essential workers, and their families. Position Overview The Staff Accountant will work closely with Tiercel Partners and MED leadership and will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the portfolio company. This is a hands-on position designed for an accountant who is comfortable taking ownership of financial processes including payroll, accounts payable, bank and credit-card reconciliations, expense management, financial reporting, and budgeting. The ideal candidate has approximately 1-3 years of professional accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to independently investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records. Process and review payroll, bonuses, reimbursements, deductions, and payroll adjustments. Verify payroll reports and review payroll taxes, deductions, and related discrepancies. Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices, check requests, payment schedules, and outstanding balances. Maintain vendor records and communicate directly with vendors regarding invoices, payments, credits, and discrepancies. Review and process employee reimbursements and company expenses. Maintain expense reports, financial spreadsheets, and supporting documentation. Monitor banking and credit-card activity and investigate unusual transactions or discrepancies. Assist management with monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow analysis. Prepare and review budget-to-actual and period-over-period expense analyses. Identify financial discrepancies and independently research and resolve accounting issues. Assist with month-end and period-end financial reporting. Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation for management, tax, and audit purposes. Help improve accounting procedures, reporting tools, spreadsheets, workflows, and internal financial controls. Coordinate with portfolio company management, employees, vendors, payroll providers, banks, and outside financial professionals. Support Tiercel Partners with additional portfolio-company accounting and financial analysis projects as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. Approximately 1-3 years of professional accounting experience. Previous experience in a position where accounting and financial reporting were primary responsibilities. Experience with payroll processing and payroll reconciliation. Experience with accounts payable and vendor payments. Experience reconciling bank and credit-card accounts. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy. Ability to investigate discrepancies and solve accounting problems independently. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet reporting deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to professionally handle confidential financial and employee information. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ADP payroll. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms. Experience working within a multi-location or multi-entity organization. Healthcare accounting experience is a plus but not required. Experience preparing management financial reports. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Experience improving accounting procedures, internal controls, or reporting systems. General understanding of payroll taxes and basic business tax requirements. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who goes beyond simply entering transactions. The right candidate should be comfortable understanding where money is going, identifying discrepancies, questioning unusual activity, and providing management with accurate financial information that can be used to make better operating decisions. This role is well suited for an accountant who wants exposure to both the financial operations of a growing healthcare business and the broader portfolio-management environment of a private investment company.
