Overview of the Role The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for receiving, processing, and verifying invoices related to accounts payables. In addition, the Accounts Payable Specialist will provide backup to the Senior Accounting Specialist with the general balancing needs of credit union accounts and assist with other accounting functions.
Requirements:
Responsibilities Prepare all Accounts Payables for payment and approval. Research and resolve discrepancies. Daily balancing of the Corporate Checks, Money Orders, Share Drafts along with Branch and Remote Deposits. Order ATM cash and schedule delivery. Process daily ATM and Card Balancing procedures. Process all incoming wires and setup outgoing wires for the mortgage department. Track corporate VISA billing and ensure accuracy for auditors. Generate reports as requested by management. Qualifications Determined and motivated individual with a positive attitude. An Associates Degree in Accounting is required. An accounting certificate with 2 years experience in general accounting position, and/or equivalent work experience will be considered. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, creative problem solving skills with impeccable attention to detail. Proficiency with Excel spreadsheet functions. Experience using financial software product(s). Independent but also be able to thrive in a team environment. Physical Demands Sitting for prolonged periods of time Frequent computer usage and screen time Frequent typing and use of fine motor skills Decision Making To exercise sound judgement when making decisions as they relate to position duties and the credit union's policies and procedures. Financial Responsibilities To be responsible for safeguarding the credit union's assets by ensuring that policies and procedures are followed. Communication Keep the department supervisor informed regarding key department issues. Effectively communicate within the department to ensure the flow of ideas and information. Equipment Used Must be proficient in various credit union software programs Work Environment Office setting, based in the Administration Building
