Job Description
Position Summary The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for managing the receipt, payment, and tracking of vendor invoices for an assigned portfolio of properties and accounts in alignment with Company financial policies and procedures. In addition, this position provides back-up administrative and reception support to the corporate office. Essential Job Functions 1. Processes outgoing payments for an assigned portfolio of properties and accounts in compliance with financial policies and procedures 2. Performs day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data for all vendors 3. Reconciles the accounts payable system in Yardi to ensure that bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted 4. Verifies and investigates payment discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts, monthly vendor statements, and processing credits when needed 5. Generates A/P reports when requested 6. Makes journal entries for portfolio rebilling in accordance with established procedures 7. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as required Required Qualifications Education, Training and or/ Experience Associate's degree with three plus years of accounting or residential / commercial property management experience, or an equivalent amount of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Characteristics 1. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 2. Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping 3. Strong knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency with residential property management technology programs such as Yardi and Real Page is a plus 4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 5. Displays a positive, friendly and professional attitude with a strong focus on customer service 6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team 7. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously, and meet established deadlines 8. Ability to work with confidential and sensitive matters Physical Demands The nature of work requires an ability to communicate and exchange information, prepare work documents, and operate standard business office equipment. Requires the ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 20 pounds. Working Conditions Work is performed in a general office environment and apartment community. Weekend work and some evening work may be required during peak seasons.
