Job Description
This position is based at our Meherrin Corporate office in Severn, NC. The Company With more than 40 locations along the eastern seaboard in the United States, Meherrin Agricultural and Chemical Company is a leading provider of seeds, chemicals, and fertilizers to farmers. Job Purpose The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the company by processing transactions, maintaining records, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within the accounting and finance team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions accurately and timely. Assist in reconciling bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts. Prepare and maintain financial reports, invoices, and statements. Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial documentation. Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations. Assist in payroll processing and expense report reviews. Communicate with vendors and clients regarding billing, payments, and discrepancies. Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and reports. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar). Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Excellent organizational and time management skills. High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. Work Environment Office-based role with occasional remote work flexibility. May require extended hours during month-end or year-end closing periods.
