Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to join our growing team in a dual role combining full charge bookkeeping with prevailing wage compliance expertise. This position oversees financial record-keeping for a diverse client base while ensuring full compliance with California and Federal prevailing wage laws on public works projects. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills together with a solid understanding of certified payroll and Labor Code requirements, and thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Hours:
30-40 hours/week•semi-flexible schedule Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping & Accounting Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients on a daily basis Perform double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account analysis Handle account reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and bank reconciliations Manage accounts payable/receivable and payroll processing Use QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online to support client accounts Prevailing Wage Compliance Interpret and apply California and Federal prevailing wage laws to company projects Prepare, review, and audit certified payroll reports (CPRs) for accuracy and compliance Ensure adherence to Labor Code requirements, including worker classification, wage determinations, and fringe benefit calculations Monitor subcontractor compliance and collect required documentation Respond to agency requests, audits, and investigations Maintain organized, up-to-date compliance records and documentation Collaborate with project managers, HR, and accounting teams to ensure compliance alignment Provide training and guidance to internal staff and subcontractors on prevailing wage regulations Stay current on changes to Federal and California labor laws and compliance standards Qualifications Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online Strong understanding of debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis Strong knowledge of California Labor Code, DIR requirements, and public works regulations Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and 10-key typing accuracy Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple projects, clients, and deadlines simultaneously Effective written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in construction, public works, or government contracting environments Experience with California prevailing wage compliance and reporting Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or related certification Familiarity with compliance software (LCPtracker or similar) preferred Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting a plus
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
