We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Accounting & Bookkeeping Assistant to join a growing accounting and bookkeeping practice. This position is a good fit for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is organized, accurate, comfortable with technology, and able to follow established procedures. You must be able to pay close attention to details, follow written and verbal instructions, and take responsibility for making sure your work is complete and accurate. Schedule This is a part-time position with variable hours . Hours will change month to month based on client workload, projects, new client onboarding, and seasonal needs. You must have availability during regular weekday hours, Monday through Friday. Most training, communication, and scheduled work will take place during the workweek. Hours are expected to increase during tax season. The position is currently remote , but may transition to an in-office or partially in-office position in the Albany area in the near future.
Responsibilities Duties may include:
Bookkeeping and general accounting support Entering, reviewing, and categorizing financial transactions Bank and credit card reconciliations Accounts payable and accounts receivable Assisting with bookkeeping cleanup and special projects Reviewing information for accuracy and identifying discrepancies Maintaining organized client records and documentation Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and other financial tracking Communicating questions and following up on missing information Other accounting and office-related duties as assigned
Qualifications Education:
Minimum of two years of college-level accounting coursework required.
Experience:
At least one year of accounting/bookkeeping experience is preferred . Two years of college-level accounting coursework may substitute for accounting work experience. Previous office or administrative experience is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Good organizational and time-management skills Ability to learn procedures and apply them consistently Ability to work independently and ask questions when needed Experience using Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams Comfortable learning and working in cloud-based accounting applications A reliable computer and reliable high-speed internet connection Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive financial and client information Reliable weekday availability Monday through Friday QuickBooks Online experience is a plus.
Position Details Pay:
$18.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience
