Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support our law firm's financial operations. This role plays an important part in daily accounting activities, trust accounting, and month-end processes. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, close attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment.
Job Responsibilities:
In the Accounting Department, you are responsible for a variety of accounting duties, which include the following: Assist with financial statement preparation in accordance with accounting standards Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing adjusting entries Prepare and maintain detailed workpapers supporting financial records Process accounts receivable, including reconciliations and write-offs Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Assist with system reviews and ensure accounting data is properly backed up Prepare settlement disbursements, ensuring accuracy and documentation Review and reconcile client trust accounts and deposits Prepare reports related to client files and financial transactions Reconcile bank loan accounts Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; law firm experience preferred
Key Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods of time
