Job Description
Job Overview HG Tax and Accounting is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant / Bookkeeper to join our team in Kent, WA. Our firm works with a large number of clients in the trucking and transportation industry. This position will assist with client bookkeeping, trucking-related tax and compliance filings, client communication, and tax-season administrative support. Previous trucking compliance experience is not required. Comprehensive hands-on training will be provided. The selected employee will receive approximately three months of training from the team member currently responsible for many of these filings. We are looking for someone who is organized, comfortable working with numbers and deadlines, communicates well with clients, and is interested in learning a specialized area of accounting and trucking compliance. Responsibilities Perform bookkeeping and accounting support for small-business and trucking clients Prepare and file trucking-related reports, registrations, and tax filings Assist with filings such as IFTA, IRP, Form 2290, UCR, and other trucking-related compliance requirements Maintain accurate client records and compliance documentation Track filing deadlines and obtain required information from clients Communicate with clients by phone and email regarding missing documents, deadlines, and filing requirements Assist with government notices, compliance matters, and audits as needed Perform data entry and maintain organized electronic and physical client files Assist with tax-return intake during tax season, including collecting, organizing, and reviewing client documents for completeness Provide general accounting and administrative support to the office Learn and stay current on procedures related to trucking industry filings and compliance Qualifications Previous bookkeeping, accounting, office administration, or similar experience preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time-management skills Comfortable managing multiple clients and deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfortable communicating directly with clients Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer applications Ability to learn new software, government filing systems, and accounting procedures Ability to work independently after training QuickBooks experience is a plus Previous trucking, transportation, IFTA, IRP, or compliance experience is a plus, but not required Training Trucking compliance experience is not required . Approximately three months of hands-on training will be provided for the trucking-related responsibilities of the position. We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong accounting/bookkeeping foundation, good attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
