Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our organization. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Assistant Bookkeeper is responsible for performing day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative duties to ensure accurate financial recordkeeping and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Qualifications Associate degree (two-year degree) in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. International Adoption or other related non-profit employment preferred Strong attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks. Professional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members. Commitment to ethical standards and organizational compliance requirements. Essential Job Duties Opens Accounting mail such as bills, correspondence, and checks. Sorts, scans, copies, records, deposits, prepares, files, and other general accounting duties. Audits invoices against purchase orders and research discrepancies for payment. Prints and mails out accounts payable checks to include expense reimbursements and contractor payments. Computes, types, and mails statements to customers as necessary. Processes all online banking requests to include transfers within CHI accounts, foreign and domestic money wires, direct deposits and Western Union according to policy and procedures and submits for approval by the Accounting Manager. Monitors accounts payable and receivable to ensure payments are accurate and timely. Reconciles bank accounts payable and submits reports to Accounting Manager and Executive Director as requested. Assist in monthly and annual closings. Trained and available to aid in all bookkeeping areas as needed.
Pay:
From $17.13 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
