Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our accounting team. This is an entry-level position that provides an opportunity to learn and develop accounting and administrative skills in a fast-paced construction environment. The Accounting Clerk will provide general clerical and administrative support to the accounting department, with a primary focus on accounts payable, document management, subcontractor compliance, and other day-to-day accounting activities. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and mail accounts payable checks and related correspondence
- Scan, organize, and electronically file accounting documents
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting files and records
- Assist with monthly accounts payable statement reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies
- Monitor subcontractor Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for current and complete coverage
- Follow up with subcontractors to obtain missing or expired insurance certificates and other required documentation
- Distribute incoming mail and route documents to the appropriate departments or personnel
- Assist with processing and organizing invoices and other accounts payable documentation
- Enter and maintain data accurately within accounting and company systems
- Assist the accounting team with routine administrative and clerical tasks
- Provide support with special projects and other duties as assigned Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Previous office, clerical, or accounting experience preferred, but not required
- Basic understanding of accounting principles is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and follow-up skills
- Comfortable working with computers and learning new software systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and company information
