Assistant Bookkeeper / Future Primary Accountant Heath Farms | Coloma, Wisconsin Heath Farms is looking for a detail-oriented, trustworthy, organized, and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Bookkeeper / Future Primary Accountant . This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants to learn the financial side of a diverse agricultural business and grow into the Primary Accountant role within approximately 1-3 years .

ABOUT HEATH FARMS

Heath Farms is a diverse and growing agricultural operation with approximately 25 full-time and 50-75 seasonal employees .

Our operation includes:

• 6-acre wholesale greenhouse
• 250 acres of vegetable production
• 280 acres of high-end sports turf
• 50 acres of maple and Christmas trees Our business operates year-round with seasonal activity ranging from spring greenhouse production and March-November sod shipping to summer/fall vegetable production and November-December Christmas tree operations .

THE POSITION

You will begin by supporting our existing bookkeeping and accounting processes while learning how the different areas of Heath Farms operate. As you gain experience, you will take on increasing responsibility with the goal of becoming the Primary Accountant within 1-3 years . We want someone who learns not just how to enter the numbers, but why they matter and how the different parts of the business work together.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting support
• Accounting checks, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records
• Review transactions and resolve discrepancies
• Work with Sage and QuickBooks Payroll & Employees
• Assist with payroll and employee records
• Verify hours and payroll information
• Assist with H-2A paperwork and seasonal employee administration Accounts Payable, Receiving & Invoicing
• Process bills, invoices, and payments
• Match purchases, receiving records, and invoices
• Assist with customer invoicing and account records
• Track expenses across the different areas of the farm Insurance & Administration
• Assist with insurance and workers' compensation
• Maintain required records and documentation
• Work with management and other departments to keep financial processes organized and moving forward

Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, Excel, insurance, workers' compensation, or H-2A paperwork is a plus. Most importantly, we're looking for the right person. We are willing to train someone with the right attitude, work ethic, attention to detail, and desire to learn.
