The Bookkeeper is part of a dedicated team of professionals who, utilizing SOWI's Guiding Values, work together to support Special Olympics Wisconsin's (SOWI) vision and mission to open hearts and minds towards people with intellectual disabilities and create inclusive communities across Wisconsin by providing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, other athletes, and the community. The Bookkeeper is organized and self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail. They are responsible for performing and coordinating key accounting functions supporting the financial operations of the organization. The position ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, supports credit card administration, prepares financial reporting and analysis, assists with monthly close and audit preparation, and provides guidance on financial procedures and systems. The Bookkeeper also identifies and implements process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency and internal controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable:
Accurately process vendor invoices for payment Review transactions for appropriate coding and identify and resolve coding discrepancies in accordance with internal procedures Maintain vendor records Manage Accounts Payable email inbox Prepares 1099s Perform expense analysis
Donor Information/Revenue:
Receive, sort and deposit cash flow Ensure gifts are accurately recorded and assigned to the appropriate accounts, campaigns, funds and/or designation Accurately applies receipts to donor records Prepare gift acknowledgements Respond to donor questions Manage Accounting email inbox Assess, prepare and file monthly sales tax report Assist with donor record maintenance Perform revenue analysis
Event Support:
Assist with Polar Plunge event registrations Assist with Truck Convoy registrations Assist with Beyond Gold registrations Assist with
State Sports Tournaments Credit Card Administration:
Monitor compliance with credit card policies Support cardholders with system and policy questions Assists with monthly close, as assigned Provide guidance and advisement to staff regarding applicable financial procedures and systems Develop and implement process improvements in collaboration with affected departments Develop effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Adherence to timelines and strong attention to detail. Demonstrable problem-solving skills. Track record of demonstrating customer service. Ability to work with a team and independently. Organize work to meet established deadlines, solve problems using good judgment and understand when to seek assistance/guidance from others. Proficiency with MS Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel. Raiser's Edge experience, preferred. Valid Driver's License

Pay:
