Job Description
Come join our team in the "Small Town with a Big Heart" We are looking for a motivated team player to serve as Town Treasurer. We offer a competitive salary. The Town of Canton is seeking a part-time Town Treasurer. This position entails approximately 25 hours per month initially. Long-term position is anticipated to necessitate approximately 15 hours per month. Work may be largely accomplished remotely after initial onboarding. Must have skills in records maintenance and report preparation. Work requires knowledge of modern office procedures and municipal accounting practices. Work is performed in accordance with local ordinances and state laws. The Town Treasure is expected to maintain records of accounting receipts and expenditures; accounts receivable ledgers; and posting charges, payments, and adjustments. The Town Treasurer also reconciles bank accounts to various general ledger cash control accounts and prepares monthly and annual reports for municipal officials, taxpayers, and governmental agencies. The Town Treasurer is responsible for managing and completing all required audits. Preference given to those with prior experience in a municipal office and experience with TRIO software.
