Head of Single Risks Claims US

The Single Risks Claims US team (Claims1.5.3) currently consists of five team members and is responsible for the management of F&C's Corporate claims in the
Lines of Business:
Property, Engineering, Energy and Casualty. The Head of Single Risks Claims US reports to the Head of Single Risks Claims (Claims1.5) in the management view and to the Chief Claims Officer RI NA in the legal view. Responsibilities Lead and guide a specialized Claims team according to the Munich Re Leadership Compass
Actively implement the Claims Ambition 2030 and advance agreed outcomes, as a member of the Global Claims Leadership Team
Develop and implement a strategy for Single Risks Claims US aligned with the Claims Ambition 2030 and the specific needs of the US Corporate book of business
Ensure appropriate proactive and consistent claims management of direct insurance claims in compliance with Corporate Guidelines including coverage determination, accurate and timely reserve setting and negotiations with clients and brokers.
Provide support for mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings relating to claims handled by the team.
Systematically share claims insights, lessons learned and overarching trends with the Claims community and Underwriting
Support underwriting decisions with portfolio intelligence and claims expertise.
Create strong collaboration and partnership with MR US Claims and Underwriting
Actively develop claims expertise in the team for the requisite lines of business, data and AI.
Work in close collaboration with other Single Risks Claims teams to advance knowledge, consistency and expertise
Create an inclusive, accountable team environment, promote constructive challenge and encourage change to achieve department goals and local, regional and global outcomes, both individually and collectively
Carry our continuous conversations including the agreement of commitments, giving and receiving of feedback and development plans for each team member.
Represent Munich Re Claims and MR Group at prioritized conferences, market meetings and industry institutions, strengthening thought leadership and the client and broker value proposition. Qualifications Successful candidates will possess the following skills/capabilities: College degree or equivalent relevant professional and leadership experience required
At least 10 years' experience in primary and/or reinsurance gained or acquired in claims and /or underwriting functions
Demonstrated leadership experience in managerial roles is required
Excellent understanding of insurance and reinsurance coverage interpretation, loss reserving, loss analysis, litigation management, leakage prevention and client relationships
Very good understanding of insurance/reinsurance operations (underwriting, accounting, reserving, legal) and an effective network within US P&C and the Munich Re Group
Very good knowledge of global and US P&C claims systems, applications, processes and Claims guidelines, with the ability to build networks across the MR Group
Proven record of accomplishment in managing, coaching and developing diverse talent
Demonstrated expertise in data quality, portfolio management, reporting and analytics
Strategic thinking aimed at measurable outcomes, practical solutions and business impact
Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills
Strong negotiation, judgment and conflict resolution skills
Excels in taking initiative, prioritizing proportionately, and working independently to meet deadlines
Adept at translating a shared strategy into clear team priorities and measurable outcomes
Strong digital, data and AI literacy, including responsible adoption of relevant claims technologies The Company is hiring this role in Princeton, NJ or New York, NY. The salary range posted below reflects market variations across both locations, with the higher end being more aligned with the New York job market. The base salary range anticipated for this position is $237,100 - $378,100 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton and New York. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
