Job Description

NYS law firm is seeking to hire an Adjuster to be based out of our White Plains, Albany or Newburgh location. To be considered, candidates must possess the following qualifications/skills (in no particular order): 3 or more years of extensive bodily injury claim handling; prior insurance company claim supervisor preferred. Ability to negotiate complex issues. Strong Interpersonal skills and ease with phone, in-person and e-mail contacts. Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A proven team player. Ability to write well Ability to work independently. Excellent computer skills including a proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
Duties will include:
Negotiate assigned files to the maximum value with assigned parameters Serve as a primary source of information to the defendant and underinsured carriers requiring broad knowledge of the plaintiffs personal injury business. Manage incoming calls from potential clients within defined parameters, using judgement and knowledge to determine whether or not to accept a client's case, refer it out to another firm or summarily reject the case. Monitor data input and existing information to insure accuracy and up to date information. Document files with work done, calls made and properly record demands and offers, so others can pick up the file and work in your absence. Notify assigned people on file as to progress when necessary. Serve as a resource and offer guidance when called upon by other departments. Provide support to the trail staff as to coverage and negotiation status. Contribute information and ideas, as well as keeping co-workers and supervisor informed of key developments. Maintain a diary system so all assigned files are managed properly. Assist walk in clients with issues in the absence of an Attorney in the office.
