Job Description Scope of Position:
•This position is available to work from any of the 4 Expeditors CHQ Locations - Lynnwood, Factoria, Seattle, or Federal Way •As a claim specialist you will be assigned a set of claims that will be your individual responsibility to manage from receipt until resolution to the customer. You will investigate claims using our documentation systems and global network. You will work to file claims against responsible parties and will ensure that they pay when they are responsible for losses. You will provide timely and exceptional customer service to external customers and to our internal network. Ideal Candidate profile is someone with a strong analytical ability, sound judgement and a demonstrated ability to handle complexity at a high level. The ideal candidate will view the role as a genuine opportunity to develop and build a career at Expeditors. Job Tasks Claim set up and initial claim investigation Accurately input required data fields Save required documents into Expeditors documentation system. Documents should include proof of transit, proof of value, proof of loss, proof of resolution, and all customer, claimant, and insurance provider correspondence Professionally communicate with Expeditors global network and Service Providers to investigate claims for loss or damage. Use logical reasoning and investigative skills to identify who was responsible for claims for loss or damage Claim Resolution and closing: Professionally, and timely file claims with responsible service providers. Escalating claims to appropriate parties that do not receive timely response or correct resolution Accurately inputting data and saving documents regarding carrier resolution Professionally and timely communicate claim resolution to the customer. Resolve claims within contractual obligations with our customers. Professionally and accurately collect payment details from customer Professionally and accurately submit payment to accounting for verification Ensure the timely payment to customers On top of these daily functions, you will be expected to: Always act with integrity, making decisions that are correct based on the facts Provide proactive customer support Exhibit friendly and professional correspondence with both internal and external customers Maintain complete and accurate electronic files, including documentation of correspondence within company guidelines Constantly making an effort to build and foster relationships with our clients Contribute to team meetings and discussions Qualifications Minimum Requirements Two years professional work or related experience Desired Abilities Communication skills including written, phone and presentation; Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word; Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills; Ability to work productively both individually and in a team environment; Strong and consistent documenting skills; Attention to detail, pro-active, tenacious; Ability to execute consistent follow-up on action items; Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects; Ability to document business process flows; Interpersonal skills to foster collaboration among team members and customer; Pro-active and strong organization and time management skills.
