Full Job Description Ideal Candidate:
A technically strong private-label apparel professional who understands color, fabric, testing, and pre-production and can work directly with mills and factories to solve problems—not simply manage timelines. Established private-label apparel and swimwear company with 20+ years of industry experience is seeking a Color Compliance Specialist to support growing Mass Market/private-label programs. Swimwear and/or activewear experience strongly preferred, with men's apparel/swimwear experience a plus. This is a hands-on role managing pre-production, color approvals, fabric and garment testing, compliance, and production readiness while working closely with overseas mills, vendors, factories, testing facilities, and retail partners. Key Responsibilities Manage pre-production timelines, approvals, and critical path milestones. Coordinate fabric, color, lab dip, strike-off, trim, packaging, and sample approvals. Manage color approval processes and ensure colors meet retailer specifications. Coordinate fabric and garment testing; identify root causes of failures and develop corrective actions with suppliers. Work directly with overseas mills, vendors, and factories to troubleshoot technical issues and keep programs on schedule. Review fabric construction, trims, labeling, packaging, testing, and quality requirements. Maintain retailer systems, compliance documentation, sustainability certifications, and approval records. Track development and production samples and communicate risks, issues, and solutions to internal and external partners. Qualifications 2+ years of apparel pre-production, product development, production, or related experience. Current or recent Mass Market/private-label experience required. Strong technical knowledge of fabrics, trims, color, testing, labeling, and garment construction. Experience with color management systems such as Coloro/ColorFlow, X-Rite iQC10, or similar. Hands-on experience with fabric and garment testing and color approval. Experience working with overseas mills, factories, vendors, and testing facilities. Swimwear and/or activewear experience strongly preferred. Men's apparel/swimwear experience is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to determine the root cause of technical or testing issues and develop solutions. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple programs and deadlines.
Bonus:
