Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Director of Risk and Compliance for a direct hire opportunity in Pleasanton, CA, with a mission-driven nonprofit charitable organization. This senior leadership role is ideal for a strategic compliance, risk management, grants, or audit professional who wants to make a meaningful impact while protecting organizational integrity, public funding accountability, and regulatory compliance. The Director of Risk and Compliance will report to the Chief Financial Officer and partner closely with Finance, IT, Program leadership, external legal counsel, and internal compliance staff. This is a highly visible role with strong executive partnership, meaningful community impact, and the opportunity to shape enterprise risk, fiscal compliance, internal controls, contract oversight, data privacy, and public initiative compliance. The role provides an opportunity to lead a capable team, strengthen organizational systems, and contribute to programs that support children, families, and the broader community. Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise risk assessments, compliance frameworks, internal controls, and organizational risk management strategies in partnership with executive leadership.
- Partner with the Controller to ensure fiscal compliance for grants, budget allocations, financial reporting, audit preparation, tax filings, and public funding requirements.
- Support compliance design, regulatory oversight, and monitoring workflows for major public initiatives, including subsidized child care and minimum wage floor grant administration.
- Oversee contract lifecycle management, insurance portfolios, subcontractor agreements, legal coordination, and governance-related compliance matters.
- Partner with IT and program leaders on HIPAA, PII, PHI, cybersecurity governance, incident reporting, API/data integration protocols, and privacy audits.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate compliance team members while developing policies, training, corrective action plans, and a proactive culture of compliance. Compensation and Benefits
