POSITION
Monitoring andCompliance Coordinator
REPORTS TO
Director of AmeriCorps
TYPE OF POSITION/STATUS
Part-time/Non-Exempt
LOCATION
Employee must live within consistent travel (commute) distance to and from the office headquarters in Reno, Nevada.
SALARY:
$20-24/per hour; 20-25 hours per week; overtime is not consistently accrued and must be pre-approved.
Position Summary:
Nevada Volunteers has an immediate opening for a Monitoring and Compliance Coordinator. This position performs programmatic oversight for a portfolio of AmeriCorps Nevada grantees and subgrantees. The ideal candidate will have relevant professional experience, be exceptionally detail-oriented, highly organized, and demonstrate capacity and ability to learn database systems quickly. The Monitoring and Compliance Coordinator supports AmeriCorps Nevada programs with AmeriCorps grant requirement compliance in ensuring sound oversight of organizations that receive AmeriCorps State grants administered by Nevada Volunteers.
Essential Functions:
(Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists. Assigned Job tasks/duties are not limited to the essential functions) Subgrantee Monitoring and Compliance - 80% Cross-check National Service Criminal History Checks for all AmeriCorps Nevada subgrantees. Review AmeriCorps members time sheets to ensure they are completed correctly. Notify the AmeriCorps Director and Program Officer immediately of instances of non-compliance. Conduct annual subgrantee monitoring including programmatic site visits and desk audits to ensure compliance of subgrantee programs with AmeriCorps and federal grant requirements. Maintain accurate grant records for each subgrantee. Work with the AmeriCorps Director and Program Officer to develop and maintain Nevada Volunteers compliance monitoring plan and tools to meet federal grant requirements that reduce risk for subgrantees. Develop and maintain expert knowledge of AmeriCorps statutes, regulations, and policies and procedures. Assist Program Officers and Director of AmeriCorps with completion of annual subgrantee risk assessments. Present a positive, professional image of Nevada Volunteers and AmeriCorps when engaging with community partners, agency staff, other funding sources, subgrantees, and team members. Professional behaviors are collaborative, supportive, encouraging, and helpful. Training and Technical Assistance - 20% Train subgrantees on compliant processes to perform National Service Criminal History Check. Collaborate with the AmeriCorps Director and Program Officer to develop and implement Nevada Volunteers' national service support. Facilitate meetings, focus groups, trainings, or other Nevada Volunteers activities with subgrantees related to monitoring and compliance. Position may be assigned to a cross-functional team to support Nevada Volunteers goals. Initiate communication with subgrantees in portfolio including emails, newsletter, Basecamp, and telephone or electronic calls. Maintain annual certification of ongoing education and training requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
National Service including AmeriCorps streams of service such as AmeriCorps VISTA and NCCC or willingness to learn. Federal grants management administration practices. English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Skills to:
Utilize with accuracy and proficiency technology platforms: Microsoft 365, Excel, time-tracking software and platforms, eGrants, OnCorps, etc. Operate personal computer and software applications for graphic presentations, information retrieval research and other job-related software. Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to:
Work with a high degree of independence. Complete work by deadline with high degree of accuracy. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Deliver technical assistance and training to internal team members to impart knowledge and information. Contribute to organizational values of integrity, teamwork, trust, personal responsibility, and initiative. Complete work assignments including adherence to processes established for documenting timesheet, hours and impact. Work closely and harmoniously with other employees. Adhere to policies and procedures. Maintain organization equipment within their possession. Ability to work flexible hours or accrue overtime occasionally (i.e., encountering transportation delays or perform time-sensitive tasks). Travel overnight across Nevada or by air up to 25% FTE is required.
Experience and Training:
Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is: Minimum of one year of relevant work experience. Demonstrated organization skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to prioritize accuracy above competing demands. Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Proficient computer skills including use of Excel and Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn new systems quickly is essential. Experience with programs funded with federal grants and/or with AmeriCorps is preferred. Completion of an AmeriCorps term of service is highly desirable.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
The physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Strength, dexterity, and coordination to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods. Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods of time are within the routine scope of performance. Some reaching, bending, squatting, and stooping to access files and records is necessary. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper. Occasional lifting of files, stacks of paper or reports, references, and other materials. Some reaching for items above and below desk level. The manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer using word processing and databases. The ability to interact professionally, communicate effectively, and exchange information accurately with all internal and external customers. Ability to appropriately manage internal and external stressors and interact with others, including supervisors, coworkers, employees, and the public. Maintain regular and consistent punctuality and attendance is required. Light lifting (up to 25 pounds) is occasionally required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed under the following conditions: This position functions indoors in an office-type environment where most work is performed at a desk or similar workspace. Monitoring and Compliance Coordinator will be required to travel by car to appointments, site visits, to pick up or deliver material, and to travel by airplane for multi-day/overnight conferences and meetings. Site-based work environment is generally clean with limited exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, noise, or odors. Frequent interruptions to planned work activities occur.
Note:
This position is expected to work an eight-hour shift from the Nevada Volunteers headquarters in Reno, Nevada. This position is not anticipated to accrue overtime except in circumstances that are pre-approved by the Director of AmeriCorps or the Executive Director. Changes to essential functions and working conditions must be brought first to the attention of the Director of AmeriCorps, the AmeriCorps Program Officer's supervisor, or senior member of the Nevada Volunteers leadership team. The AmeriCorps Program Officer is expected to attend in-person, site-based activities, meetings, events, and other functions as assigned. A minimum of 25% travel by vehicle and airline is required.
