Position Purpose:
The Fraud Prevention Officer plays a key leadership role in protecting our customers, employees, and the bank from fraud. This leader will guide the strategy, team, and tools that keep Colony Bank secure while ensuring our approach reflects our culture of integrity, innovation, and customer-first service.Location:
Remote or available space in a Colony Bank locationPrimary Job Functions:
Develop and champion Colony Bank's fraud prevention program to protect customers and reinforce trust. Proactively identify new fraud risks and lead the bank's strategy to stay ahead of emerging threats. Balance Fraud prevention with a strong, positive customer experience. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing fraud prevention team that is collaborative, curious, and committed to doing what's right. Provide ongoing training and tools to ensure employees across the bank feel empowered to detect and prevent fraud. Foster a culture of accountability, and continuous improvement Partner with Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Digital Banking, BSA/AML, IT and Compliance teams to create a united approach to fraud prevention. Work with branch teams and front-line employees to strengthen awareness and response to fraud activity. Build strong relationships with regulators, auditors and law enforcement, representing Colony Bank with professionalism and credibility Evaluate and implement advanced fraud prevention technologies and analytics to strengthen our defenses. Continuously improve processes to reduce fraud losses, increase efficiency, and protect customers Share knowledge of fraud trends and risk with leadership and staff to keep Colony Bank ahead of the curve. Other duties as assignedJob Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field preferred. 8-10 years of fraud prevention or financial crimes experience in banking/financial services. Strong leadership skills with experience building and developing teams. A people-first mindset—able to balance technical expertise with empathy for customers and employees. Knowledge of fraud risks such as check, ACH, wire, debit/credit card, identity theft, and digital fraud. Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex fraud issues clearly to both executives and staff. Certifications such as CFE, CFCS, or CAMS are a plus.
