Job Description

  • Excellent Direct Hire Opportunity for an Import Coordinator
  • You will be responsible for managing international and domestic shipments, ensuring accurate entry writing, customs compliance, ocean freight coordination, and timely domestic deliveries. This position serves as the primary liaison between customers, overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, and transportation providers while maintaining accurate shipment records in CargoWise.
  • Import Operations
  • + Coordinate and monitor import shipments from origin through final delivery.

+ Manage ocean freight import shipments, including FCL and LCL cargo.

+ Track shipments and provide timely status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.

+ Coordinate delivery appointments and final-mile domestic transportation.

+ Communicate with ocean carriers, steamship lines, trucking companies, warehouses, and freight forwarders.

+ Resolve shipment delays, customs holds, demurrage, detention, and delivery issues.

  • Entry Writing & Customs Compliance
  • + Prepare and submit customs entries accurately and timely.

+ Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other import documentation.

+ Classify products using HTS codes and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.

+ Coordinate with Customs Brokers and CBP regarding entry requirements.

+ Maintain compliance records and support audits when necessary.

+ Verify duties, taxes, and other import-related charges.

  • CargoWise Management
  • + Process shipments and maintain accurate data within CargoWise. + Create files, enter shipment details, update milestones, and generate reports. + Review and validate shipment documentation in CargoWise. + Manage vendor invoices, customer billing, and shipment profitability when required. + Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Ocean Freight & Domestic Deliveries
  • + Coordinate ocean freight bookings with overseas agents and carriers.

+ Monitor vessel schedules, arrivals, and container availability.

+ Arrange drayage, transloading, and domestic transportation.

+ Schedule and oversee domestic deliveries to customer locations.

+ Work closely with warehouses to ensure smooth cargo receipt and dispatch.

+ Troubleshoot shipment issues to minimize delays and costs.

  • Customer Service
  • + Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment status. + Respond promptly to inquiries and provide proactive communication. + Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and vendors. + Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through efficient shipment management.
  • Qualifications
  • + 2+ years of experience in import operations, freight forwarding, or logistics. + Experience with
  • Entry Writing
  • and U.S. Customs regulations. + Strong experience using
  • CargoWise
  • software. + Experience handling
  • Ocean Freight Imports (FCL/LCL)
  • . + Knowledge of domestic transportation and delivery coordination. + Familiarity with HTS classifications, customs documentation, and compliance requirements. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Preferred Skills
  • + Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures and Incoterms. + Experience working with customs brokers, steamship lines, and trucking providers. + Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. + Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. + Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment. + Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Pay Details:
  • $50,000.
