What You'll Be Responsible For:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger activities Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP, GASB, and applicable regulations Oversee internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures Review reconciliations and financial activity for accuracy and compliance Oversee accounting related to organizational assets Lead, coach, and develop accounting and support staff Participate in hiring, performance management, training, and employee development Partner with IT and leadership on financial system enhancements, upgrades, and implementations Coordinate annual audits and related financial reporting Serve as a financial resource to internal departments and organizational leadership Identify opportunities to streamline processes, standardize procedures, and improve efficiency Support strategic initiatives and special accounting projects
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience 3+ years of experience managing or supervising accounting professionals Government, education, or public-sector accounting experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices Understanding of GAAP, GASB, internal controls, and financial reporting Experience working with large, integrated financial systems Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent advanced training CPA preferred Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills Hands-on and collaborative management style Comfortable leading teams through change, system improvements, and process enhancements 💰
