Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax Director to lead our organization's tax strategy and compliance efforts. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of tax planning, reporting, and regulatory adherence, ensuring our company remains compliant with current tax laws while optimizing financial performance. Your expertise in corporate tax, individual tax, estate planning, and regulatory compliance accounting will drive strategic initiatives and support sustainable growth. Responsibilities Develop and execute comprehensive tax strategies aligned with organizational goals, including estate planning and corporate tax optimization. Oversee the preparation and review of all tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Lead audits related to taxation, liaising with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure smooth processes. Manage complex tax issues such as mergers & acquisitions, securities law considerations, and other specialized credits. Ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls related to tax reporting and financial disclosures. Provide guidance on technical accounting matters including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), double entry bookkeeping, and financial statement interpretation. Collaborate with finance teams on financial report writing, analysis skills enhancement, and regulatory reporting requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving tax laws and regulations affecting estate planning, non-profit accounting, private equity, and investment activities. Support the implementation of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for accurate financial recordkeeping. Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and internal stakeholders while fostering strong client relationships. Experience Extensive accounting and finance experience with a focus on corporate taxation; prior experience in public accounting is highly valued. Proven expertise in tax law application across diverse areas including individual tax, estate planning, wills & trusts & estate law. Strong background in auditing practices, regulatory compliance accounting, and financial analysis. Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects involving mergers & acquisitions or financial sales initiatives. Familiarity with financial concepts such as asset management, budgeting, payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and balance sheet reconciliation. Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or equivalent platforms for bookkeeping and financial reporting tasks. Exceptional analysis skills with a keen eye for account reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation processes. Excellent client communication skills coupled with the ability to interpret complex financial data into actionable insights.
